What is Cosmelan depigmentation peel?

Cosmelan is a depigmentation treatment designed to reduce and eliminate dark spots, hyperpigmentation, and melasma on the skin. It is a chemical peel that specifically targets areas of the skin with excess pigmentation, such as sunspots, age spots, and hormonal pigmentation like melasma.

How depigmentation peel work?

The treatment works by inhibiting an enzyme called tyrosinase, which is involved in the production of melanin, the pigment responsible for skin color. By reducing melanin production, Cosmelan helps fade existing dark spots and prevents the formation of new ones.

Long-term results depend on proper maintenance and sun protection.

What are the side effects of Cosmelan Peel?

Immediately after the procedure, patients commonly experience redness, swelling, and a feeling of tightness in the treated area. Within a few days, peeling and flaking of the skin occur, revealing new, smoother skin underneath. Some individuals might also experience temporary dryness and itchiness. Less frequently, there can be mild blistering, hyperpigmentation, or hypopigmentation, although these side effects are usually temporary.

Yes we do, you are only required to pay a Deposit of £200 to secure a consultation with our doctor, which is credited towards the cost of your treatment on the day or in near future, so you are not charged for consultation alone. However, should you wish to only consult us on the treatment, the deposit is deducted for consultation rate!

Yes, the Cosmelan Depigmentation Peel can cause some discomfort. During the procedure, patients often experience a warm, tingling sensation, which some find slightly uncomfortable. However, the peel is typically well-tolerated, and any discomfort is temporary.

The number of Cosmelan Depigmentation Peel sessions needed varies based on the severity of hyperpigmentation. Typically, significant improvement can be noticed after one session. However, for more stubborn or severe cases of hyperpigmentation, multiple sessions might be required.

After undergoing a deep chemical peel, your skin will typically go through a healing process. Immediately after the peel, your skin will likely feel sensitive, tight, and may appear red. Avoid picking, scratching, or pulling on the peeling skin, as this can lead to scarring or infection. It’s important to follow our doctors aftercare & advice given to you post treatment.

You can expect your skin to become progressively tighter and may develop a crust or scab, which will eventually peel off. This process usually takes about 7 to 14 days, but it can vary depending on the depth of the peel.
