OVERVIEW

What are Anti Wrinkle Injections?

Anti-wrinkle injections are cosmetic treatments designed to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines by relaxing facial muscles. They typically use botulinum toxin, a purified protein that temporarily blocks nerve signals to targeted muscles, preventing them from contracting. This relaxation smooths existing wrinkles and helps prevent new ones from forming. Commonly treated areas include forehead lines, crow’s feet around the eyes, and frown lines between the eyebrows.

Does Anti Wrinkle injections work on reducing lines & wrinkles?

Anti-wrinkle injections, commonly referred to as neurotoxin injections, can be effective in reducing lines and wrinkles. These injections typically contain botulinum toxin, which temporarily weakens the muscles responsible for creating wrinkles and fine lines. By preventing muscle contractions in targeted areas, such as the forehead or around the eyes, the appearance of wrinkles is diminished. Results are often visible within a few days and can last for several months, though individual experiences may vary.

What results and level of aftercare are expected?

It is best to leave the treated area alone for up to 6 hours after treatment and sit upright, to allow for the product to settle effectively in place. This will also help to reduce the risk of bruising or swelling spreading to other areas. Heavy lifting and working out will also need to be avoided for the first 24 hours. You should wait for around 48 hours before applying cosmetics or undergoing other skin treatments, such as: facials, massages and exfoliating scrubs.

Results are usually instant as the skin will look smooth and wrinkle free, whilst still allowing the face to move and form expressions.

What are the side effects of Anti Wrinkle injections?

Anti-wrinkle injections, such as Botox, are generally safe but may cause temporary side effects. Common issues include pain, bruising, and swelling at the injection site, along with possible redness and headaches. Muscle weakness, particularly in the treated area, can occur due to the temporary paralysis induced by the injections. Choosing a skilled and experienced healthcare professional for the procedure is crucial to minimize risks, and any concerns should be discussed with the provider beforehand.

Determining suitability depends on individual health, medical history, and aesthetic goals. Generally considered safe, these injections are suitable for many people seeking to reduce facial wrinkles. However, pregnant or breastfeeding individuals, those with certain neuromuscular disorders, or allergies to ingredients in the injections may not be suitable candidates. A consultation with our in house doctor is essential to assess individual eligibility, discuss potential risks, and tailor the treatment plan to specific needs and expectations.

Results from anti-wrinkle injections can be noticeable shortly after one session, with initial improvements in skin smoothness and reduced fine lines. However, the full effects of the treatment may take a few days to a week to become apparent. While individual responses vary, repeated sessions are often advised for maintenance, typically every 3-4 months, to sustain the desired outcome.

Anti-wrinkle injections are known to be comfortable treatments for clients to undergo. In some cases, some slight discomfort may be felt but this is usually very minor and our clients do not often feel the need for anaesthesia, as needles used are very fine.

They are generally safe when administered by qualified professionals. During a consultation, individual concerns and risks can be discussed for a confident decision. A review appointment after anti-wrinkle injections is often recommended but not always mandatory. It allows our team to assess results, address concerns, and make any necessary adjustments. This is usually done within 2 weeks post initial treatment.
