What are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers are injectable treatments that contain a hyaluronic acid gel. The main aim is to add volume beneath the skin, which can help to enhance the features and create a smooth surface. Dermal fillers are a popular procedure with both men and women. As an anti-ageing solution, they can improve the look of lines and wrinkles, facial volume loss, ageing hands, lip lines and crepey skin. However, if a weak jawline, thin lips, an irregular-looking nose or flat cheeks are your concern, dermal fillers can help to intensify your look.

The Experience

We often find at House of Saab that no formal anaesthesia is required. But if you choose, a topical numbing cream can be administered prior to the treatment to help alleviate any potential discomfort. Your practitioner will then apply the dermal fillers at specific points on the face, neck or hands, according to the concern(s) that are to be addressed. A very fine needle is used for this treatment and the density of the gel may vary, depending on which area / feature is being treated.

Aftercare & Results

For the first 6 hours after the procedure it is advised that you do not touch the treated area, or apply unnecessary pressure. You should also be careful to avoid extremes of heat and cold. Once the initial effects of the treatment have settled you will find the results can be seen very quickly. Your skin should look smoother and more refined; fading the look of lines and wrinkles, whilst also restoring a texture that is softer and more hydrated. If dermal fillers have been used to strengthen the appearance of a certain feature, you may find your characteristics become more defined and better contoured, with a more balanced look to the face. Maintaining the results may require House of Saab to administer regular treatments every 6 – 8 months.

At House of Saab, your treatment process will begin with a thorough consultation which will determine whether dermal fillers are the right solution for you. Most men and women are found to be suitable for dermal fillers, however if you have an existing skin condition or are a woman who is pregnant or breastfeeding, then you may not be recommended.

There are many brands of dermal filler on the market, and House of Saab will only use the most effective and reputable brands (Allergan). The treatment is FDA approved and will only be administered by a highly skilled and experienced injector.

Our main aim at House of Saab is to create a pain free experience for all our clients, requesting dermal fillers. You will be given the option to have a topical numbing cream applied to the treatment area 20 – 30 minutes before the procedure goes ahead, in order to make your journey as comfortable as possible.

Small bumps may appear on the skin where the injections were administered. In addition, the treated area may also look red and slightly swollen, but this should subside within 24 hours. All potential risks and complications will be explained during the consultation, when you should also share your medical history and risk of allergies.

Although some discomfort may be felt while the treatment is being administered, this is temporary and usually only lasts as long as the procedure itself. It is often the case that a client is able to leave House of Saab and continue with their day as normal. However, if you wish to conceal any minor bruising, you will need to wait for up to 48 hours before any cosmetics can be applied.
