What is Facial Balancing / Contouring?

The appearance of the face and its features can differ from one person to another, and we all have our own unique look. For some people, their facial characteristics are not always perceived as aesthetically pleasing and stronger, more defined features are desired. Facial balancing / contouring will often address the look of the lips, cheekbones, chin, jawline and nose to accentuate their appearance and create a more balanced look to the face.

The Experience

To amplify the look of certain features, dermal fillers are often an effective solution, and a personalised treatment plan will outline which characteristics are to be addressed. The dermal fillers are administered at specific points on the face, using a very fine needle. The smooth gel adds volume to the tissues beneath the skin; augmenting the appearance of the concerning attribute, as well as improving its look.

Dermal fillers are favoured by both men and women in an age where looking and feeling good can apply to all. We often find that women look to enhance the lips and cheeks, defining their more feminine characteristics. Whereas men prefer to create a more striking look with a stronger jawline and chin.

Aftercare & Results

Following the treatment you will need to allow the dermal fillers to settle into place. This will mean you should refrain from touching the treated area(s), or applying pressure. You will need to be careful to wash your face gently and refrain from wearing make-up for around 24 – 48 hours. Exposing the treated area to extremes of heat and cold should also be avoided.

The extra volume in the underlying structure can provide subtle definition that contributes to a naturally enhanced look. Whether it’s to plump up the lips, supplement the cheekbones, improve a crooked or bumpy nose or to strengthen a weak chin or jaw, dermal fillers can help to synchronise the appearance of different features to create a well-balanced and  proportionate look.

FAQ

Facial balancing / contouring can be used for people who are dissatisfied with their overall appearance; addressing one or more of the features to create improved definition and facial enhancement. Each case will require its own customised plan of treatments, appropriate for the characteristic(s) that are of concern.

You will be in safe hands when you visit House of Saab. Dermal fillers are used to balance and contour the features and are considered a safe and effective solution. The treatment is FDA approved and varying densities of filler are used to intensify the different features.

It is true to say that when facial balancing / contouring uses dermal fillers, some discomfort can be experienced. With many brands of filler, mild anaesthesia is contained within the product as standard. However if you feel that your personal level of discomfort can be high, your practitioner at House of Saab can discuss using a topical numbing cream.

When dermal fillers are applied, a small red bump may appear at the point where the injection was administered. This may be accompanied by slight swelling and bruising, which will often subside within a few days. Other risks will be discussed at consultation.

Most of our clients, here at House of Saab, experience very little downtime following the procedure. The face may feel tender in the first 24 – 48 hours after treatment, but this should not affect your ability to carry out normal daily functions, providing they are not too strenuous.
